Failures of the bearing are often caused by many kinds of factors. It is difficult to justify them because all the factors may cause the failure of the bearing. Under common condition it can be considered and analyzed bearings failure both from using factors and internal factors.

Using factors refer to if the installation and justification, use and maintenance conform to technological requirement or not. Installation condition is one of the first factors in using factors. The inappropriate installation will lead to changing stress condition between the components of the bearing which will make the bearing work under abnormal condition then failure will occur. Supervise and check the load, speed, working temperature, vibration, noise and lubrication condition according to the technological requirement for installation, use and maintenance. Find the reason as soon as the abnormality is discovered. Investigate and recover the bearing. Besides it is also important to analyze and check the quality of the grease and the medium and environment around.

Internal factors refer to three factors which determine the quality of the bearing such as structure design, manufacture craft and material quality.

Firstly while the structure is designed reasonably it should also be advanced to realize comparatively longer lifespan. Manufacturing the bearing generally requires many procedures including forging, turning, heat treatment, grinding and assembly etc.. The reasonability progressiveness stability will also affect the lifespan of the bearing. Among them the heat treatment and grinding procedures which affect the quality of the bearing is often more directly related with the failure of the bearing. In recent years researches on deformed layers of the working surface of the bearing indicate that optimized grinding craft is closely related to the improvement of the surface quality of the bearing.

The smelting quality of the bearing material was once the main factor that affects the early failure of the roller bearing. With the development of smelting technology the quality of the material has been improved. The ratio of quality of the material in the analysis of the failure of the bearing decreases obviously but it is still one of the main factors which affect the failure of the bearing. The appropriate selection of the material is still the main factor that must be considered in analyzing the failure of the bearing.
